What I Love...

Where we've been.
What we've been doing.

What I love...

A busy, busy couple of weeks,
the goodness of which was
family, friends, and food.

My head is tired,
my heart is full.

A Week Of Pictures.

We've had a sunny week...

From my kitchen window.

Early in the morning.

Fire in the garden.

Lions and tigers and bears.

Through the doorway.

In my kitchen.

Little boys.

Busy hands.

My tonic.

Bright Shadow.

Where did that week go!

Well, I thought I'd give you a little peep at something Jay has been working on with his collaborative art group Projector Collective.

In a nutshell, it's a project that is looking at, or reflecting, ideas about urban renewal and regeneration, and they were given a row of disused inner city houses in Dublin, the shutters of which they then covered in 23 carat gold, and had the front gardens filled with sunflowers!

And in their own words: The gold leaf will outlast the sunflowers and in essence refers to a more permanent level of transformation. This too is still open to decay, although over a longer period of time.

For more info on this project and the other wildly varying ones they've done, have a look here.

I just love coming across something like this unexpectedly!

Breathing Space.

Today,
a day away from the fray
for me.

Moving through sunlight,
sunlight through trees.

Autumn has been halted
in it's steps.

A bright, solitary journey south
into the hills,
with only Megafauns-
deep, sincere and in my ear.

A few hours of something else entirely,
wholly out of my comfort zone,
in a room full of strangers
and a scattering of friends.

And still.

I return to the garden
where the radiant, stilly air hangs in a hush.

And through the open window
the joyous delinquent laughter of little boys.

My heart is pierced
and filled.

Something Lovely.

Well, today was a blast of summer if ever there was one. Almost felt like a trip to the beach but yes, those early mornings are killing me. And I also have an extra toddler to mind these days, which makes my days lots of fun, but oh so tiring. Two two year olds...

Anyway, as the evenings draw in, from next week I'll be gathering together again with a bunch of friends for an evening of stitchery around the fire. It's always fun to see what projects people are planning.

So with that in mind I thought I'd share this wonderful idea I found months back, though how I found it I can't remember.

It's a French site called Golden Hook that offers a service for people who wish they could knit but know they never will. You go onto their site, choose a hat design you like, choose the yarn you like, and then you choose the Grandma you'd like to knit it!

How brilliant is that!

~*~
I had an extra spring in my step today, all because of the wonder of human loveliness.
If you want to know why, take a peek at the footnote on my most recent post over on ~Carnival~!

These Early Mornings Are Killing Me...

Why is it so hard to give in and go to bed early some night!

Introducing Oz.

A busy back-to-school week was had here.

We now have a teenager in Secondary school, an event which has been long anticipated. The Eldest has been ready to go for about two years now! He has taken it all in his stride, even when a wee bit daunted by the newness of it all, which includes using public transport on his own for the first time.

We also have a new member added to our family.

Meet Oz!

My Only Girl has been waiting a long time for this little fellow. And I have to say he is a dream kitten.

It's been a tiring week, but very nice to get back to something of a routine. Our first day back poor Smallest thought that all our talk of 'You can go to playschool if you go on your potty like J' was a great big lie when he didn't get to stay with his big brother in school. Poor fella! And we have another two weeks before playschool actually starts...

Hope you all had a lovely week, and here's to a relaxing weekend!
